Read this Article (PDF) | Comment on this Article AbstractThis field report focuses on one of the largest participation projects in Turkey, the “Children and Architecture Project.” This initiative is organized by the Ankara Chamber of Architects in cooperation with Ankara University Centre for Research on Child Culture (CRCC). The Chamber runs “meetings” and “activities” for children and youth in the city in which the children discuss and work to solve the problems they face in their daily living environments, including the lack of playgrounds and access to recreational parks, traffic congestion, and concerns about personal safety. The Chamber has also initiated the “1000 Architects in 1000 Schools” program to introduce young people to the main concepts of architecture.
