Abstract
This article describes the Australian National Youth Roundtable, questioning the extent to which it operates as a model for young people to actively participate, and analyzing the barriers that exist to the full and active participation of young people involved in the program. It also examines the changes that have occurred in the program, their impacts and possible rationale. The article suggests that the Roundtable is a program that is both innovative and worth further examination, yet is plagued by government agenda setting and misrepresentation through the exclusions and omissions of young people’s voices and concerns.
